virgin festival
This past weekend was the time of the Virgin Music Festival on the Toronto Islands. I went. If I hadn't have gone, then I wouldn't be posting about it, would I?

Day 1
- With our tickets we got free admission to Centerville - a theme park for (young) children. We had a lot of fun going on the log flume (we went 6 times in a row; there were no lines). And we were on the Scrambler for a full hour, requesting music from the fun people running the ride.
- We then went up to the stage and were front row for The Hidden Cameras (there's a whole other story with this that will be told later) and The Dears and some other bands. Then Sasha came and found me telling me that they just met the members of Muse. So we ran back to the backstage area and waited for a while. I ended up meeting them! :D I met my heroes!!!

- We also met Wayne (The Flaming Lips lead singer) and some people from the Dears and Devon from Much Music...

And randomly, this is the fucking gorgeous lead singer of Phoenix. He signed my backpack, too.



Day 2
- We didn't go to Centreville this day. :( We just waited backstage for people.
- We met the lead singer of Wolfmother
- We met 2 of the many members of Broken Social Scene
- We met Sam Roberts <3

Here's the story involving Sam Roberts. He's signing autographs for us and then we ask him very politely for a photograph with him. He says yes (obviously). So we hand off the camera to some guy and he's an idiot. He doesn't turn the camera on. *shakes head* In the meantime, Sam Roberts has his hand at the small of my back. *sighs dreamily* (I WILL MARRY HIM!!!) So then I move and turn the camera on and Sam says: "That's a cool camera" and I tell him that I need a big fancy one because I'm a photography major. To which he replies "That's so cool! At Ryerson?" Me: "No, OCAD." Sam: "That's so cool. You're so cool."

So the best thing ever? Sam Roberts thinks I'm cool.

Then later in the day, Sam Roberts is walking towards me and I'm walking towards the lake and he stops in the middle of his conversation, looks at me, waves, and says "Hey" in the cool manner that only he has been able to master. Plus, his hat was hot.

- And the other best part of the day: WE MET THE STROKES!!!

Uh huh. I know half of you just collapsed in shock.

Julian Casablancas actually signed my shirt and poster! :O Oh, and he took a picture with me!!! Plus he's a real sweetheart. He had a high fever so he couldn't do too much before the show. But he came out and met us because he felt bad for not wandering around like he usually does before a show.
